9/30/2020 Education Seminar

Due to Covid-19, our 9/30/20 seminar will be held virtually via Zoom. 

The business meeting and education seminar for the Massachusetts Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (MAPIA) is still scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Due to Covid-related concerns, we will now be conducting it virtually via Zoom. Please RSVP via email to chloe@swerling.com by September 15, 2020. If you are a paid MAPIA member, you will receive the Zoom invitation via email before the seminar begins.

Brian Goodman, Esq. and Kelly Donohue, Esq. will present on Fraud Claims Against Public Adjusters, and Paul Mahoney and Andrew Williams, P.E. will present on Origins & Cause Investigations and Subrogation. It will be sponsored by Board Up Kingz and Rice Corp. Members attending this virtual seminar will earn 4 continuing education credits.

 

9/25/19 Meeting at Newton Marriott

The business meeting and education seminar for the Massachusetts Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (MAPIA) will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Boston Marriott Newton Hotel – 2345 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton, Massachusetts from 9am-3pm.  Lunch will be provided.  Sal’s Dry Cleaning and American Mobile Homes will be sponsoring our event.  Please RSVP to chloe@swerling.com or call with any questions: 781-416-1000 x124.

All attendees must be a paid member if they wish to attend and stay at the event to receive credits.  So, if you haven’t already, please mail in your renewal check.

Our presenters will be Anthony J. Antonellis, Christopher M. Reilly and Brendan L. Labbe from Sloane & Walsh, LLP.   They will be discussing contract law, direct physical loss, causation, burdens of proof, policy conditions, common application questions and issues, Reference, bad faith, case law updates, and other miscellaneous issues.

We have received approval from Massachusetts for 4 continuing education credits.

We will also be holding our annual business meeting and choosing officers and board members.  If you are interested in serving, please contact Michael Maddaleni at mike@mmpublicadjusters.com as he is chairing the Nominating Committee.

Annual Meeting September 27, 2018

The Annual Meeting and education seminar for the Massachusetts Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (MAPIA) will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 10:00 am to 3:30pm at the Newton Marriott2345 Commonwealth Avenue · Newton, Massachusetts.  Lunch will be provided.  Servicemaster by Gilmore and The Dry Cleaner by Val will be sponsoring our event.

All attendees must be a paid member if they wish to attend and stay at the event in order to receive credits.

Tony Antonellis and Chris Reilly from Sloane & Walsh LLP will be our speakers for the day discussing property insurance law updates such as maintaining heat, examinations under oath, proofs of loss, collapse, Reference, BI/EE claims, subrogation and much more.  We have been approved by Massachusetts and New Hampshire for 4 continuing education credits.

May 14, 2014 Meeting

Minor changes to the by-laws were passed

We received 3 credits for Massachusetts & New Hampshire.

We have three speakers for this event:

  1. David Reggiani from Emerald View Associates Inc. – who will be discussing Ordinance or Law Coverage;
  2. Seth Hochbaum, Esq. from Regnante, Sterio & Osborne LLP – who will be discussing recent court decisions involving first party property claims along with claims against insurance agents and/or brokers;
  3. Glenn Ricciardelli, CPA from Matson Driscoll & Damico– who will be discussing business interruption claims.

September 11, 2013 Meeting

Sal’s Clothing Restoration will be hosting our lunch for the event.

We have been approved for 3 credits for Massachusetts & New Hampshire.  We have three speakers for this event:

  1. James A.lerardi, PhD, PE, Code Project Specialist – who will be discussing the new Massachusetts State Building Codes;
  2. Ellen A. Shapiro, Esq. from Goodman, Shapiro & Lombardi, LLC – who will be discussing Condominiums;
  3. Jason E. Cohn, Esq. from Tommasino & Tommasino – who will be discussing Reference.

 

The meeting will end with our annual elections and reports.
