CE Seminar on September 18th
The next education seminar and business meeting for the Massachusetts Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (MAPIA) will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 450 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, MA 02451 from 10am-4pm.
Lunch will be provided. Marshall Gilinsky from Anderson Kill will present on issues related to artificial intelligence. This discussion will look at the history of bad behavior and the emerging technologies and regulations, charting a course for protecting policyholders’ rights in the digital age. And Kenneth A. Lakin, Esq., John F. Lakin, Esq. & Tracy L. Kramer, Esq. from Lakin Law Firm will focus on Reference, Arbitration and Communication in Claims Handling. These courses have been approved for 5 CE credits by MA and NH.

On September 28th, 2022, MAPIA held its September Seminar & Business Meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Waltham, Mass. William T. Kennedy, Esquire led an informative discussion on Bad Faith, Advanced Reference Concerns, and The New Seepage Endorsement. All paid members who attended earned 3 continuing education credits. Joanne Rios, Esq. of Cohn, Rios & Anglin and Kelleye Van-Liere O’Donnell & Daniel Hall of the Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association will present on Navigating Your Client’s MPIUA Claim – this will include identifying issues at the start of a claim, effectively navigating Examinations Under Oath, and considering time limitations under the policy and at law. We will also have Bill Rose, JD, CPCU & Jim Scamby, JD of Melick & Porter LLP presenting on Claims Made Against Insurance Agents & Brokers. They will discuss the types of potential claims, and explain the elements of as well as possible defenses for such claims.

On September 22, 2021, MAPIA held its September Seminar & Business Meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Waltham, Mass. Attending members earned 4 continuing education credits by participating in the course led by Sloane and Walsh’s Anthony Antonellis, Esq., Christopher Reilly, Esq., and Brendan Labbe, Esq. The topics covered in this course included Policy Conditions & Examinations Under Oath, Proofs of Loss, Suit Limitation Provisions, and Reference & Appraisal. The event was sponsored by American Mobile Homes and Advanced Restoration.
During the Business Meeting portion of the day, a vote held by the attendees kept the same Officers intact. Joshua Goldstein vacated his seat on the Board of Directors, and Howard Shore was voted in to fill it.
